Wheel class, summer 2015

Wheel class, summer 2015

Mission Statement: The Lansing Bike Co-op empowers our community through bicycle education and access. We provide a welcoming space for taking transportation into our own hands.

The idea behind a bike co-op is a simple one. Provide a space where anyone regardless of race, color, national origin, spiritual belief, age, gender, sexual orientation or physical ability can come and learn the skills necessary to fix and maintain their own bicycle.

We believe that giving people the tools, materials and knowledge to do the work themselves is a valuable community asset. Through that work the bicycle can become an important tool in the furtherance of individual empowerment.

The Lansing Bike Co-op is an all volunteer organization located at 1715 E. Kalamazoo. To keep up on open times please follow us on Facebook.

Kid's Holiday Bike Drive: Coop members are working on repairing 36 donated bikes to distribute to area kids for the holidays. We are looking for sponsors to help cover the cost of parts and helmets and to help us keep the heat going while we work. To sponsor a bike, go to the Donate section (above) and let us know which bike you'd like to sponsor. Suggested donation is just $20. We'll be posting bikes and thanking sponsors on the LBC Facebook page all week.

We are looking for community members who would like to help with the behind the scenes work to keep the Co-op running, and people who would like to teach classes. We would like to have classes available to everyone about bicycle maintenance topics as well as training/touring/commuting. If you would like more information or are seeking ways to get involved please send an email to lansingbikecoop@gmail.com.
